Job Description
Step into a rewarding in-person role supporting a self-contained K-2 classroom for students with significant disabilities. This contract opportunity begins August 11th and extends through at least September 23rd, with the possibility to continue. The opening is due to a leave of absence, offering you the chance to make an immediate and meaningful difference.
You’ll guide a small group of four students through their core academics in a nurturing, structured environment, while collaborating with paraprofessionals to ensure every child receives the individualized attention they need. For part of the day, students join their peers in general education settings, allowing you to help facilitate inclusive experiences that foster growth and belonging.
Qualifications:
- Valid teaching credentials in Special Education
- Experience working with K-2 students with significant disabilities
- Ability to create and adapt engaging, differentiated lesson plans
- Strong collaboration and communication skills for working with paraprofessionals and general education staff
- Dedication to fostering an inclusive, supportive classroom environment
Responsibilities:
- Deliver core instruction adapted to individual student needs
- Lead a team of paraprofessionals within the classroom
- Develop IEP goals, collect data, and communicate student progress
- Support transitions between special education and general education settings
- Maintain a safe, organized, and supportive learning environment
- Communicate regularly with families and staff about student achievements and needs
