Location: Dearborn, MI

Position Type: Full-Time | In-Person
Hours: 40 hours/week
Start Date: September 8, 2026
Professional Development: Candidates onboarded before August 27 may be eligible to participate in professional development.

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to support high school students in a resource room setting for the 2026–2027 school year. The teacher will provide individualized academic, social-emotional, and behavioral support while helping students build the skills necessary for success in the classroom and beyond.

Caseload & Grade Levels

  • 9th Grade OR 10th–12th Grade

  • Approximately 14–20 students

  • Resource room setting

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide targeted academic support to students with diverse learning needs.

  • Develop and implement individualized instructional strategies based on student needs and IEP goals.

  • Provide social-emotional support and help students develop self-advocacy and independence skills.

  • Implement appropriate behavior interventions and positive behavior support strategies.

  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation.

  • Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, families, and related service providers.

  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development and implementation of IEPs.

  • Maintain a supportive, structured, and inclusive learning environment.

Requirements

  • Previous Special Education experience preferred.

  • Michigan Special Education certification preferred.

  • Strong classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills.

  • Ability to support students with academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.
