About the Region
Kern County provides physicians and their families with some of the most affordable housing options in the area, alongside access to several of California's premier natural attractions. It is the nearest SCPMG location to renowned outdoor destinations such as Yosemite, King's Canyon, Sequoia, and Death Valley National Parks. The city of Bakersfield is a hidden treasure, featuring mature tree groves, spacious streets, and beautiful homes, all without the usual traffic congestion found in Southern California.
Working Environment
Kern County stands out within our organization. With its more intimate, less urban atmosphere, there is a genuine sense of community and belonging. It is the only medical center within our organization that can convene as a unified group simultaneously. The smaller size of our area encourages open communication at all levels, giving physicians a voice and facilitating ongoing improvements, both minor and significant. Physicians benefit from the stability and support of the Permanente system while enjoying the camaraderie of a smaller medical group. New team members are swiftly integrated into the system, promoting rapid learning and support. This welcoming culture extends beyond the medical center, as physicians' spouses and families actively engage with one another through various social and cultural activities.
Equal Employment Opportunity
External candidates must successfully complete a background check and drug screening. Qualified applicants with arrest and/or conviction records will be evaluated for employment in accordance with federal, state, and local laws, including the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance. All qualified candidates will be considered for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, protected veteran status, or disability.
