A full-time Oncology Clinical Pharmacy Specialist position is available at a well-established medical center. This role focuses on the comprehensive care of cancer patients throughout their treatment journey, ensuring accuracy and optimization of supportive care measures. The specialist will collaborate closely with oncologists, Nurse Practitioners, physicians, and Oncology Fellows to deliver evidence-based medication therapy and education.

Salary: $136,000 to $200,000 annually

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain collaborative practice programs with oncology teams to support chemotherapy and related care for inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Provide educational programs for pharmacy staff, nursing, and oncology healthcare professionals.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert by responding to drug information inquiries and reviewing oncology care plans for alignment with national guidelines.
  • Participate in clinical rounds with Oncology Fellows, Nurse Practitioners, and physicians for therapy optimization, including medication selection, monitoring, and dose adjustments.
  • Educate patients on new oral and intravenous oncology medications using the teach-back method.
  • Identify medication-related issues through clinical data assessment and ensure medication safety and efficacy.
  • Precept pharmacy residents and students.
  • Engage in Oncology Service Line meetings to promote quality improvement in cancer care.
  • Advocate for rational, cost-effective drug therapy focusing on cost avoidance and savings.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Doctorate Degree in Pharmacy.
  • Licensed Pharmacist with Board Certification in Oncology.
  • Minimum of three years hospital experience with clinical training and at least three years in oncology practice, OR completion of PGY-2 ASHP-accredited residency in oncology or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Five or more years of related oncology experience with BPS oncology board certification.
