Make a meaningful impact in local classrooms as a dedicated Paraprofessional! This contract opportunity offers flexible, per diem assignments supporting special education students in a variety of Kansas City area schools. You’ll cover contractor call-outs, helping students and educators thrive by providing essential classroom assistance—whether that’s one-on-one or as an aide for groups.

You can choose shifts that fit your schedule, covering elementary, middle, or high schools with a focus on SPED classrooms. Engage directly with students needing behavior support, implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs), and contribute to a positive, collaborative learning environment. Responsibilities may also include assisting with personal care tasks as needed.

What You'll Do:

• Assist teachers in special education classrooms, supporting students with behavioral and academic needs
• Step in for contract staff absences, working 1–5 days per week across different district schools
• Pick up assignments through a user-friendly app, where all scheduling info is provided
• Provide hands-on support, including implementing BIPs and facilitating student engagement
• Potential for both 1:1 and classroom-wide support roles
• Maintain a safe, positive atmosphere and help with personal care if necessary

Qualifications:

• Valid, active Substitute Certificate with DESE (must be fully active before starting)
• Completed fingerprinting for North Kansas City
• Prior experience in schools and/or with behavior intervention
• Comfortable supporting SPED students, including those with behavioral challenges
• Flexibility to accept per-diem assignments at various district schools
