Product DesignerAn excellent opportunity for a creative and commercially aware design professional with experience in consumer products, textiles, interiors or architecture to help develop exciting physical consumer camping products (tents and awnings) for the outdoor leisure sector.If youve also worked in the following roles, wed also like to hear from you: Industrial Designer, Product Design Engineer, Product Developer, Textile Designer, Consumer Product Designer, Product Development Designer, Design Engineer, CAD DesignerSALARY: Competitive + BenefitsLOCATION: Port Glasgow, Inverclyde, ScotlandJOB TYPE: Full-Time, PermanentJOB OVERVIEWThis is an exciting opportunity for a Product Designer to join the organisation during a sustained period of development and growth.As a Product Designer, you will use your creativity, design knowledge and understanding of colour trends to support the creation of high-quality consumer camping products, including tents and awnings.The Product Designer will work across research, concept development, prototyping, materials awareness, supplier liaison and final sample delivery, with the opportunity to contribute to products used within the outdoor leisure market.DUTIESYour duties as the Product Designer include:Conduct Consumer Research: Carry out quantitative and qualitative consumer research to help identify new problems to solve and support product discoveryDevelop Product Designs: Create product designs in line with briefs and timelines set by product management, from inception and ideation through to final sample deliveryLiaise with Prototyping Teams: Work with prototyping technicians to support the development, testing and refinement of product solutionsResearch Materials and Trends: Maintain an up-to-date understanding of relevant product materials, design trends and market developments through research, trade shows and supplier contactDocument Designs Clearly: Produce clear and accurate design documentation for colleagues, suppliers and downstream recipients using visuals and the company PLM systemSupport Supplier and Trade Activity: Attend supplier visits worldwide and UK and European trade exhibitions as requiredCANDIDATE REQUIREMENTSA strong understanding of design theory and colour trendsExperience of design within consumer products, textiles, interiors and/or architectureA collaborative attitude with excellent communication skillsGood IT skills across office applications including Excel, Word and PowerPointExperience using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and suitable product design softwareAn avid interest in outdoor pursuits, particularly camping, would be beneficialExperience of, or the ability to support, product development in Asia would be beneficialBENEFITSCompetitive salaryOptional 9-day fortnight working patternOptional work from home dayPension contribution matching up to 8%Regular workplace eventsCycle to work schemeStaff discountsHOW TO APPLYTo be considered for this job vacancy, please submit your CV to our Recruitment Team who will review your details.
