Autism Specialist Support Staff

We are seeking compassionate, skilled and proactive individuals with specialist knowledge of Autism (ASC) to join a highly regarded SEN school in Bradford. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children with a wide range of communication, sensory and social-emotional needs, helping them access learning and thrive in a nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Autism-specific support - using visual timetables, structured routines and clear communication
\n
• Deliver personalised strategies for sensory regulation, transitions and emotional support
\n
• Work 1:1 or with small groups to develop communication, social interaction and independence
\n
• Implement programmes designed by teachers, therapists and SENCOs
\n
• Support pupils with behaviour linked to communication or sensory needs
\n
• Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and families
\n
• Contribute to progress reviews and maintain accurate support records
\n

What We're Looking For

\n
• Experience supporting children or young people with Autism (school, care or community settings)
\n
• Understanding of sensory processing differences, communication needs and structured teaching approaches
\n
• Calm, patient and consistent approach
\n
• Ability to follow support plans and work collaboratively
\n
• Willingness to undertake training such as Makaton, PECS or autism-specific CPD
\n
• Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
\n
