Much of what it does is particularly secret but based around cryptographic technology and distributed protocols within the global banking space. This is a greenfield project with high demand and security requirements with an urgent need to get going.The head of technical architecture will be tasked with working with a large group of financial leaders across the globe. MY client is investigating the feasibility of several global cryptocurrencies as well as 2 very complicated distributed data systems.The Head of Technical Architecture will be an excellent communicator, with experience of working in startup environments, who can demonstrate repeated experience of establishing robust platform infrastructure in a fast-moving, rapidly changing and exciting environment.On a day to day basis the Head of Technical Architecture will:Work with the research and development team and directly with external financial entities, projects and communities to survey market landscape for solution insights, direction, and methodsOversee aspects of project lifecycle, from initial kick-off through requirements analysis, design and implementation phases for projects within the solution areaDevelop and execute a solution strategy and architectureHeads of Technical Architecture MUST have:Computer Science DegreeExperience in a small firm or startupSerious experience of large scale distributed systems architectireDeep and broad understanding of computer science and engineering principles, most likely obtained through a combination of advanced academic study and significant professional experienceMust demonstrate good judgment and pragmatic approach to delivering a solution that optimizes architecture activities across company needs, business constraints and technological realitiesExperience with enterprise integration, preferably within financial institutionsStrong presentation and communication skillsAbility to understand business requirements and convert them into solution designsKnowledge of front-to-back systems in banking, service-based architecture, enterprise application architecture and integrationYou should be experienced in multiple languages and multiple development methodologies and will have delivered both traditional applications and solutions delivered as a service. You will likely have worked both in banking and startup environments, being comfortable with ambiguity.Capital Markets and/or Trading technology experience is not mandatory but a plus.The environment is that of Facebook or Google, relaxed open with time to think and make the right decisions.
