Lead Systems EngineerLocation: Kent (On-site)About the OpportunityWe are seeking an experienced Lead Systems Engineer / Team Lead to join a highly innovative engineering organisation working on complex, technology-driven projects. This is an excellent opportunity to combine technical leadership with people management, guiding a team of talented engineers while contributing to the successful delivery of sophisticated engineering solutions.The RoleThis position is responsible for leading, mentoring and developing engineers within a systems engineering environment. You will provide technical guidance, support career development and wellbeing initiatives, and help shape the long-term capability of the team.Working closely with project and engineering stakeholders, you will contribute to technical decision-making, resource planning, project execution and strategic planning. You will ensure teams are equipped with the right skills, resources and tools to deliver work packages successfully, while maintaining alignment with project objectives, schedules and budgets.Key ResponsibilitiesLead, mentor and support engineers in their professional development and day-to-day activitiesFoster a positive team culture, promoting engagement, wellbeing and continuous improvementUnderstand project scope, deliverables, timelines and resource requirements to support successful project deliveryCollaborate with project and engineering managers to assess team capacity and future resource needsProvide recommendations on skills development, recruitment and workforce planningEnsure project dependencies, facilities and technical requirements are identified and managed effectivelySupport business growth activities by contributing to bids, estimates and proposalsMonitor and maintain project schedules, budgets and engineering plansWork across multidisciplinary teams to identify and implement effective technical solutionsEssential RequirementsDegree qualification, or equivalent experience, in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline such as Systems Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics or MathematicsProven experience within a Systems Engineering environment and across the engineering lifecycleExperience using industry-standard systems engineering and requirements management tools such as DOORS, Polarion, Enterprise Architect, Cameo, MATLAB and/or SimulinkDemonstrated experience leading teams and making technical and/or managerial decisionsStrong stakeholder management, communication and leadership skillsAbout the TeamThe Systems Engineering function provides expertise across project planning, work package management, scheduling, resource allocation and engineering strategy.
