Job summaryYou will be based predominantly at the Royal Preston Hospital and facilitate the delivery of high-quality Gastroenterology across both sites at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, with rotating in-reach provision to Chorley General Hospital.Both are currently 1 in 6, but frequency will decrease further with recruitment. You will join of a team of 7 Gastroenterology Consultants and participate in a return to site GI bleeding rota (1 in 7).We are a team which is keen to try new things to improve our efficiency and the service we deliver to our patients. We support each other to deliver the service, try new ideas and promote personal and professional development and arekeen to educate, providing placements and training for postgraduate trainees, undergraduate medical students and other allied health professionals.We welcome applications from those looking to work either full time or less than full time.Main duties of the jobThe post holder will: Provide direct input to patients on the gastroenterology ward (Ward 24) at Royal Preston Hospital, provide support to resident doctors and advanced clinical practitioners (ACPs) covering ward referrals and Gastroenterology in-reach to the Emergency Department, and provide Gastroenterology in-reach to Chorley Hospital on a rotational basis Participate in specialty multi-disciplinary meetings, regular governance and specialty business meetingsPromote high professional standards of clinical care for patients, both through direct patient care and by the maintenance of continuing professional development. Develop close links with local General Practitioners and community allied health professionals to support patient care across providers Exercise the freedom to develop specialist elements of the services to reflect perceived priorities within available resources.
