Role: Mechanical Maintenance Engineer (Multi-Skilled)
\nLocation: Eye, Suffolk (near Ipswich)
\nShift Pattern: Panama Shift - 2 weeks Days (8am - 8pm) / 2 weeks Nights (8pm - 8am)
\nSalary: £51,000
About the Role\nWe are seeking a reliable and hands-on Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our site engineering team in Eye, Suffolk.
\nIn this role, you will keep production lines running at peak performance through proactive planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and rapid breakdown response. While the position is mechanically focused, we welcome applications from electrically biased candidates who possess strong mechanical skills.
Shift Structure\nThis position operates on a Panama shift pattern working 12-hour shifts (8:00 AM - 8:00 PM / 8:00 PM - 8:00 AM):

Enjoy predictable working hours with built-in time off every other weekend.

Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on heavy/automated production machinery and plant equipment.
\n - \n
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical breakdowns to minimize downtime.
\n - \n
Perform mechanical repairs including bearings, gearboxes, hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, and drive systems.
\n - \n
Support minor electrical repairs and isolation where competent to do so.
\n - \n
Assist with equipment installations, continuous improvement projects, and site modifications.
\n - \n
Maintain clear logs of maintenance activities using our internal maintenance system.

Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent C&G / ONC / Apprenticeship) in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.

Skill Set: Strong mechanical aptitude (hydraulics, pneumatics, power transmission, gearboxes, alignment).
\n - \n
Cross-Skilled Candidates: Electrically qualified engineers with proven hands-on mechanical competence are encouraged to apply.

Experience: Previous experience working within a manufacturing, production, or heavy industrial setting.
\n - \n
Shift Readiness: Fully comfortable working a rotating Panama day/night shift structure.
