£60,000+ per annum (dependent on experience)

We are currently recruiting for a Capital Management Accountant to join a leading organisation within the social housing sector. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified finance professional to take ownership of capital accounting, fixed assets, financial reporting, regulatory returns, and strategic business partnering across a significant property and capital programme.

\n

Working closely with senior stakeholders, operational teams, project managers, and budget holders, the successful candidate will provide financial insight and challenge, supporting capital investment decisions and ensuring robust financial control across a varied property portfolio.

Capital Management Accountant - Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the accounting and reporting of capital expenditure, fixed assets, grants, investments, and related balance sheet activities
  • \n
  • Manage the fixed asset register, ensuring additions, disposals, depreciation, and grant accounting are accurately recorded and reconciled
  • \n
  • Lead year-end audit processes, acting as the main point of contact for external auditors on capital accounting matters
  • \n
  • Prepare statutory notes, financial statements support schedules, and regulatory returns
  • \n
  • Produce and submit VAT, CIS, and other statutory returns accurately and within deadlines
  • \n
  • Partner with Property Services and Capital Programme teams, providing financial analysis, reporting, and challenge on capital projects and maintenance expenditure
  • \n
  • Support budget holders with forecasting, budgeting, and monitoring capital investment programmes
  • \n
  • Maintain robust financial controls, reconciliations, and asset records to ensure compliance and data integrity
  • \n

Capital Management Accountant - Ideal Candidate:

    \n
  • Must be Fully Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • \n
  • Extensive capital accounting experience, including ownership of fixed asset registers, capital programmes, grant accounting, asset reconciliations, and financial support for large-scale property investment projects
  • \n
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence and challenge stakeholders at all levels
  • \n
  • Demonstrable experience partnering with operational stakeholders and non-finance budget holders
  • \n
  • Experience within social housing or a regulated environment - Essential!
  • \n
  • Proven experience preparing financial statements and supporting year-end audits
  • \n
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial information and provide meaningful insight
  • \n
  • Knowledge of Unit4, Sun Systems, or similar ERP systems would be beneficial
  • \n
