Reed Education are seeking an experienced Behavioural Teaching Assistant to join a supportive mainstream primary school in Scunthorpe from September 2026.

\n

The school is looking for a confident and compassionate individual who has experience supporting children with behavioural needs, including those who are vulnerable, looked after, or have experienced trauma. You will play a key role in helping children feel safe, supported and ready to engage with learning.

The Role\n

  • Provide one-to-one and small group behavioural support.
  • \n
  • Build positive relationships that encourage trust and engagement.
  • \n
  • Support children with social, emotional and mental health needs.
  • \n
  • Use effective behaviour management techniques to promote positive outcomes.
  • \n
  • Assist pupils in developing emotional regulation and coping strategies.
  • \n
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SEND staff and safeguarding professionals.
  • \n
  • Contribute to creating a positive, inclusive learning environment.
  • \n
The Ideal Candidate\n
    \n
  • Previous experience working with vulnerable children, looked after children, or children affected by trauma.
  • \n
  • Strong behaviour management skills are essential.
  • \n
  • Minimum relevant Level 2 qualification in Education, Childcare, Teaching Assistant Practice, Youth Work, Health & Social Care or equivalent.
  • \n
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond effectively to challenging behaviour.
  • \n
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practice is highly desirable.
  • \n
  • Passionate about improving outcomes for children facing additional challenges.
  • \n
