\nSalary: £60,000 to £70,000 + car allowance + pensionSector: Life sciences / technically complex construction
\n\nWe are working with an established main contractor that is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Engineer for a highly complex construction project in Oxfordshire.
\nThe scheme is valued at approximately £60 million and is being delivered for a government-backed organisation operating within the life sciences sector. Due to the nature of the facility, the project will involve a high level of technical coordination, quality control and engineering accuracy.
\n\nThis is a site-based position working as part of an experienced project team that will include a Project Manager and Senior Site Manager. The Senior Engineer will take responsibility for the site engineering function and oversee a team of Site Engineers throughout the project. Candidates based around Oxford, Reading, Slough, Northampton or Bristol will be considered, provided they are comfortable travelling to the project in Oxfordshire.
\n\nThe Role
\n\nAs Senior Engineer, you will work closely with the Project Manager, Senior Site Manager, design team, consultants, subcontractors and wider supply chain.
\n\nYou will provide engineering leadership across a range of packages, including:

- Earthworks \n
- Piling \n
- Groundworks and drainage \n
- Structural steel \n
- Reinforced concrete structures \n
- Cladding and external envelope packages \n
- Temporary works \n
- General construction packages \n
Key Responsibilities
\n- \n
- Take overall responsibility for the site engineering function \n
- Lead, support and manage the Site Engineers working across the project \n
- Carry out and oversee setting out and dimensional control \n
- Review drawings, specifications and contract information \n
- Identify buildability issues and raise technical queries where required \n
- Ensure drawings and construction information remain accurate and up to date \n
- Check subcontractor setting out and completed works \n
- Commission and manage external surveys \n
- Coordinate permits and licences with statutory bodies where required \n
- Help develop and manage the project's temporary works requirements \n
- Ensure compliance with the contractor's temporary works procedures \n
- Produce, review and implement Inspection and Test Plans \n
- Maintain accurate engineering, quality and compliance records \n
- Compile reports demonstrating that the works meet the required specifications \n
- Ensure construction activities comply with drawings, specifications and agreed tolerances \n
- Provide engineering input into the construction programme and site logistics \n
- Monitor progress against programme and report any potential risks or delays \n
- Work closely with subcontractors to manage progress and resolve technical issues \n
- Chair and record subcontractor progress meetings where required \n
- Produce weekly and monthly progress information \n
- Maintain accurate daily site records \n
- Identify changes that could affect the programme, cost or delivery of the works \n
- Ensure approved RAMS, inductions and relevant site controls are in place \n
- Maintain compliance with all SHEQ policies and procedures \n
- Support the training, development and performance reviews of the Site Engineers \n
About You
\nWe are looking for an experienced construction engineer who has worked on technically demanding building projects and is comfortable taking responsibility for the engineering function on site.
\n\nYou should have:
\n- \n
- A Degree, HND or equivalent construction or civil engineering qualification \n
- At least five years' experience in a similar site engineering role \n
- Experience working as a Senior Engineer, Senior Site Engineer or experienced Section Engineer \n
- Strong setting-out and dimensional-control experience \n
- Previous experience on large-scale building projects \n
- Good knowledge of groundworks and steel-framed construction \n
- Experience managing or supporting other Site Engineers \n
- A good understanding of temporary works \n
- Experience producing and managing ITPs and quality records \n
- The ability to read and review technical drawings and specifications \n
- Strong communication and coordination skills \n
- A valid driving licence \n
- SMSTS \n
Experience with reinforced concrete structures, including slipform or jumpform construction, would be beneficial, First Aid training and previous experience using Field View or 4Projects Viewpoint would also be advantageous.
