Senior Automation Test Engineer

I am looking for an immediately available Senior Test Automation Engineer to join a collaborative engineering team in Central London.

\n 2x days per week on site in London

\n Role: Senior Test Automation Engineer
Summary A hands-on engineering role that designs, writes and maintains automated test suites full-time, covering UI and end-to-end tests, working alongside a separate test strategy function. This is a coding role: the person writes test code in a real programming language, not manual or record-and-playback scripts.\n

Key responsibilities
\n

\n
• Run and maintain automated testing full-time.
\n
• Introduce and own an end-to-end and UI test automation framework.
\n
• Write new UI and end-to-end test scenarios for untested areas of the product.
\n
• Design and maintain API-level end-to-end and contract tests.
\n
• Integrate automated test suites into the CI pipeline as required checks.
\n
• Run tests and triage failures on an ongoing basis.
\n

Required skills and experience\n

\n
• 5+ years of hands-on experience building automated test suites in code.
\n
• Strong programming ability in TypeScript, able to write and maintain production-quality test code.
\n
• Expert-level experience with Playwright, or an equivalent modern end-to-end testing framework such as Cypress or WebdriverIO.
\n
• Experience designing and writing API-level end-to-end and integration tests against REST APIs.
\n
• Experience integrating automated test suites into a CI pipeline, ideally GitHub Actions.
\n
• Experience with test management and defect tracking tools such as Jira.
\n
• Ability to identify untested scenarios and write new UI and end-to-end test coverage independently.
\n
• Comfortable using AI coding assistants (such as GitHub Copilot) as part of day-to-day work.
\n
• A public GitHub profile, open-source contributions, or personal repositories that demonstrate their work.
\n

Preferred skills and experience\n

\n
• Experience testing applications built with Angular and React.
\n
• Experience with visual regression testing.
\n
• Experience with monorepo CI tools such as Turborepo.
\n
• Experience working alongside a separate quality strategy or test lead function.
