Electronic Fire & Security Service Engineer

Location: Reading, Berkshire (Field-Based / On the Road)
Salary: From £32,000 per year

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Electronic Fire & Security Service Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, fault-finding, and repairing a wide range of electronic security and fire alarm systems. This is an excellent opportunity to work with the latest technologies while delivering high-quality service to commercial clients across Reading and the surrounding areas.

Key Responsibilities

• Service, maintain, diagnose faults, and repair electronic security and fire detection systems.
\n
• Carry out routine inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure systems operate effectively.
\n
• Interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and system documentation to configure, repair, and modify installations.
\n
• Complete accurate service reports and maintenance records to meet compliance and quality standards.
\n
• Keep up to date with industry standards (including NSI, FIA, and BSI) and emerging technologies.
\n
• Deliver excellent customer service while working independently and managing your workload effectively.
\n

Essential Requirements

\n
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in electronic security service and maintenance (fire alarm experience is desirable but not essential).
\n
• Strong knowledge of CCTV, Intruder Alarm, and Access Control systems.
\n
• Excellent fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
\n
• Full UK Driving Licence.
\n
• Ability to work independently and prioritise workload.
\n
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
\n
• Good understanding of current industry standards.
\n

Desirable Skills & Qualifications

\n
• Experience with systems from manufacturers such as Hikvision, Paxton, Texecom, Galaxy, Advanced, or similar.
\n
• Knowledge of IP networking and integrated security systems.
\n
• IPAF, PASMA, or other relevant certifications.
\n
• FIA, ECS, or other industry-recognised qualifications.
\n
