DATACENTRE OPERATIONS ENGINEER – HPC INFRASTRUCTURE Lefdal Mine Datacentre, NorwayQuant Capital is recruiting for a global trading firm seeking a Datacentre Operations Engineer to support a high-performance computing environment housed in one of the most advanced datacentres in Europe. This is a permanent, on-site position based in Norway and plays a critical role in managing the physical infrastructure underpinning large-scale compute and storage systems. You’ll work across deployments, cabling, hardware maintenance, vendor coordination, and high-speed network integration—supporting the infrastructure that powers cutting-edge research and trading technology.Role Overview You’ll be responsible for maintaining the physical and operational integrity of a large HPC cluster, including server installations, hardware repairs, structured cabling, and logistics. The role includes working closely with vendors, managing inventory, and supporting new deployments—including major projects involving thousands of servers.Key Responsibilities • Deploy servers, networking equipment, and structured cabling across the datacentre • Install and replace hardware components (e.g. drives, PCIe cards, NICs) • Support high-speed networking infrastructure and related cabling (fibre, transceivers, etc.) • Coordinate with vendors for on-site services, logistics, and RMAs • Oversee shipping, supply chain logistics, and international hardware movements • Support rollout of major infrastructure projects, including server expansion and network upgrades • Contribute to the evaluation and selection of networking hardware and componentsWhat You’ll Need • Strong hands-on experience in datacentre operations and infrastructure • Good understanding of high-speed networking, cabling standards, and optical components • Comfortable working with server hardware and network gear (installations, diagnostics, replacements) • Familiar with international logistics and hardware inventory management • Able to communicate fluently in English and Finnish (written and spoken) • Capable of supporting scheduled on-call rotations and occasional out-of-hours workPreferred Experience • Background in IT, Computer Science, or Infrastructure Engineering • Experience with SCADA, BMS, EMS, or other datacentre facility systems • Knowledge of liquid cooling systems or other advanced HPC thermal solutions • Comfortable handling multiple logistics and technical workflows simultaneously • Familiarity with technical documentation and troubleshooting processesWhy Apply? • Be part of a large-scale, high-impact HPC environment powering advanced research • Work with cutting-edge server, networking, and cooling technology • Own critical infrastructure operations in a modern, world-class datacentre • Collaborate with global teams on major expansion and upgrade projects • High-trust, engineering-led culture with autonomy and technical depthStrict confidentiality applies – your profile will not be shared without your permission.
