Commercial DirectorLocation: Cambridgeshire based with travelJob Type: Permanent, Full-TimeSalary: Competitive - To Be DiscussedAbout the RoleDue to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, we are looking to appoint an experienced Commercial Director to join our expanding earthworks and civil engineering business. As a key member of the senior leadership team, you will lead the commercial function, helping to drive profitability, manage risk, and support the strategic direction of the business.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement the company's commercial strategy.Lead and manage the commercial team, providing guidance, support, and developmentOversee all commercial aspects of projects from tender through to final account.Ensure effective cost control, forecasting, budgeting, and financial reporting.Manage contract negotiations, procurement, and contractual risk.Maximise project profitability while maintaining excellent client relationships.Provide commercial support and advice to the Board and operational teams.Review and improve commercial processes and procedures.Support business development, tender submissions, and strategic growth initiatives.Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and industry best practice.About YouThe successful candidate will have significant commercial leadership experience within the civil engineering, earthworks, or infrastructure sectors.You will demonstrate:Proven experience in a senior commercial role within civil engineering or earthworks.Strong commercial acumen and sound financial management skills.A thorough understanding of construction contracts, procurement, and risk management.Experience managing multiple projects and commercial teams.Excellent negotiation, leadership, and communication skills.The ability to build strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.A proactive, strategic, and solutions-focused approach.A degree or professional qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline is desirable.What We OfferPermanent, full-time position.Competitive salary (to be discussed).Opportunity to join a financially strong, growing business.Long-term career progression with genuine influence on the company's future.Supportive senior leadership team and an excellent working environment.The opportunity to play a key role in the continued success and growth of the business.
