We are looking for an experienced care professional to join Kerwin Court as a Team Leader, supporting adults living with the effects of an acquired brain injury (ABI).

\n

\n

This is a hands-on leadership role where you will work directly alongside our Rehabilitation Support Workers and specialist clinical team, helping the people we support to rebuild skills, increase their independence and work towards meaningful rehabilitation goals.

\n

About Kerwin Court

\n

Kerwin Court is Brainkind's specialist residential neurorehabilitation service located just outside Broadbridge Heath, near Horsham.

\n

\n

We support adults with acquired brain injuries and complex neurological needs, providing structured rehabilitation designed around each person's individual abilities, needs and goals.

\n

\n

Our approach goes beyond traditional residential care. The focus is on helping people regain and develop skills, maximise their independence and participate as fully as possible in everyday life.

You will work as part of an established multidisciplinary team including:

The team works collaboratively to help each person progress towards their rehabilitation goals, whether that involves developing daily living skills, increasing independence, engaging in meaningful activities or safely accessing their local community.

About the role

\n

As Team Leader, you will provide day-to-day leadership to a designated team of Rehabilitation Support Workers while remaining actively involved in supporting the people who live at Kerwin Court.

\n

\n

You will help ensure that individual rehabilitation and support plans are translated into consistent, high-quality support every day.

\n

\n

You will be someone the team can turn to for guidance, direction and support, while working closely with the clinical multidisciplinary team to ensure each person's rehabilitation programme is delivered safely and effectively.

\n

\n

What will you be doing day to day?

Leading the team

\n

You will:

\n

\n
• Lead, supervise and support a designated team of Rehabilitation Support Workers.
\n
• Provide clear direction during shifts and help organise the team's workload.
\n
• Set and maintain high standards of care, rehabilitation support and professional conduct.
\n
• Support staff development through supervision, coaching, feedback and ongoing guidance.
\n
• Help create a positive team culture where colleagues communicate effectively and work collaboratively.
\n
• Act as a point of support for colleagues when more complex situations arise.
\n

Supporting rehabilitation

\n

This is not purely a supervisory role. You will remain actively involved in the delivery of support.

\n

You will:

\n

\n
• Support individuals to work towards the goals identified within their rehabilitation and support plans.
\n
• Encourage independence rather than simply completing tasks on someone's behalf.
\n
• Support people with everyday activities, routines and meaningful engagement.
\n
• Help individuals develop or regain practical and social skills following a brain injury.
\n
• Support residents to access the community safely and increase their confidence and independence.
\n
• Work alongside the multidisciplinary clinical team to ensure therapeutic recommendations are incorporated into everyday support.
\n
• Recognise progress and help motivate the people we support throughout their rehabilitation journey.
\n

Maintaining quality and safety

\n

You will help ensure the service continues to deliver safe, effective and person-centred support by:

\n

\n
• Ensuring individual support plans are followed consistently.
\n
• Supporting compliance with Brainkind policies, procedures and quality standards.
\n
• Contributing to internal quality audits and service improvement activity.
\n
• Supporting health and safety requirements within the service.
\n
• Ensuring incidents, accidents and safeguarding concerns are identified, documented and escalated appropriately.
\n
• Maintaining accurate records and ensuring important information is communicated effectively between colleagues and the wider multidisciplinary team.
\n
• Helping the service maintain high standards in line with relevant regulatory requirements.
\n

Working with others

\n

Neurorehabilitation is highly collaborative, so communication is an important part of this role.

\n

You will:

\n

\n
• Work closely with therapists, clinicians, managers and Rehabilitation Support Workers.
\n
• Build positive professional relationships with families, external professionals and other stakeholders.
\n
• Contribute to meetings and discussions regarding the people we support.
\n
• Communicate changes, concerns and progress effectively to the appropriate members of the team.
\n
• Represent Brainkind professionally when working with external partners or attending relevant meetings.
\n

\n

You may occasionally be required to support other Brainkind locations within the division where reasonably required.

\n

\n

What we're looking for

\n

You don't necessarily need previous specialist neurorehabilitation experience if you have strong care experience and the right approach to supporting people.

\n

\n

We are looking for someone who has:

\n

\n
• Previous experience working within a care, rehabilitation or support environment.
\n
• NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Health & Social Care, or a willingness to work towards this within 12 months.
\n
• The confidence and ability to lead and support colleagues.
\n
• A person-centred approach and genuine commitment to promoting independence.
\n
• Good understanding of professional boundaries and high-quality care standards.
\n
• Knowledge of relevant care legislation, health and safety requirements and safeguarding.
\n
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
\n
• Good organisation and the ability to prioritise effectively in a busy environment.
\n
• A flexible and adaptable approach.
\n
• The confidence to recognise concerns, make appropriate decisions and escalate when necessary.
\n

\n

Experience supporting people with acquired brain injury, neurological conditions, complex needs or rehabilitation goals would be particularly valuable, although this is not essential.

\n
