Hospital mechanical design at principal and associate level

Responsum Global
London, ENG, GB Full Time

Job Description

Hospital mechanical design is the deep end of the discipline. Ventilation that keeps patients alive, resilience that cannot fail on a Tuesday night, and clients who measure your work in outcomes rather than drawings. If that is the work you want, this is the seat.A global engineering consultancy needs a principal or associate mechanical engineer for its London team, with an immediate lead role on a new, large and genuinely complex healthcare scheme. The wider group works across every major sector, so the healthcare focus comes with variety around it rather than instead of it.You lead the mechanical design: setting the strategy, directing the engineers delivering it, and owning the conversations with clinical stakeholders who know exactly what they need and expect you to translate it. The scale of the platform means the technical resources, specialist colleagues and career headroom are already in place.Healthcare rewards engineers who can hold detail and diplomacy at the same time. Clinical stakeholders, trust boards, contractors and architects all pull in different directions, and the mechanical strategy sits in the middle of it. If you can keep the engineering honest while the room argues, you will be valuable here for a long time.If your healthcare experience is currently being spread thin across whatever lands in the inbox, this role concentrates it on a project worth your name. Salary is between £75,000 and £130,000 depending on level.Apply with a CV or start with a conversation. Whichever feels right. If you've read this far and you're still unsure and would prefer a detailed market insight including salary bands and market trends - then check out our free guide here: https://www.responsumltd.com/uk-salary-guide-2026
