Job Description
Our client, a leading provider in the defence and security sector, is seeking a Mechanical Team Leader to join their facilities management team in Portsmouth.
Key Responsibilities:\n- \n
- Liaising with departmental Team Leads to support ship docking, waterfront services, and electrical/mechanical maintenance operations. \n
- Leading the scheduling of planned, reactive, and remedial maintenance work, ensuring tasks are completed within SLA and measured against KPIs. \n
- Providing technical support and advice to your team during work activities. \n
- Handling delay requests with supporting documentation where KPI dates cannot be achieved. \n
- Ensuring day-to-day operations are managed effectively, escalating issues when necessary. \n
- Identifying and implementing opportunities to increase efficiency and reduce costs. \n
- Coordinating with the Technical Buyer to procure necessary spares for maintenance tasks. \n
- Managing reactive activities to ensure a 'right first time' approach through systematic trend analysis. \n
- Supporting clients' requirements and resource needs, ensuring labour is effectively allocated. \n
- Driving continual improvement in customer service levels, productivity, and efficiency. \n
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant statutory and regulatory obligations. \n
- Increasing self-delivery through upskilling and effective succession planning. \n

- Experience working within an FM maintenance team. \n
- Good understanding of the FMSP contract (desirable). \n
- Familiarity with KPI and STO reporting. \n
- Knowledge and experience with Computer-Aided Facility Management (CAFM). \n
- Experience working with technical specifications and understanding safe systems of work. \n
- Strong work ethic and high personal standards. \n
- Leadership skills with the ability to motivate and adapt to changing circumstances. \n

- Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities. \n
- Organised approach to planning and delegation. \n
- Focus on continuous improvement and innovative solutions. \n
- Proactive and forward-looking mindset. \n

- Degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent work experience within the facilities management environment. \n
- Security clearance or ability to obtain it. \n
- IOSH Managing Safely certification or willingness to undertake it, with a commitment to management development training. \n
