The Opportunity\nWe are recruiting for an experienced Recycling Plant Engineer to join a modern plastics recycling facility.
\nThe site processes mixed plastic bottles and converts them into clean, high-quality recycled feedstock for manufacturers. This is an excellent opportunity for a practical, hands-on engineer who enjoys working in a busy production environment and has strong mechanical fitting, maintenance, welding/fabrication and electrical fault-finding experience.
\nYou will play a key role in keeping the recycling operation running efficiently, carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across a wide range of processing, plant and mobile equipment.
Key Responsibilities\n- \n
- Carry out mechanical fitting, installation, maintenance and repair of plant and machinery. \n
- Ensure recycling and processing equipment is operating safely and efficiently. \n
- Service, maintain and repair balers, sortation machinery and mobile plant. \n
- Carry out forklift maintenance and repairs. \n
- Undertake welding and fabrication work on heavy machinery, plant and site equipment. \n
- Maintain and repair conveyors, pumps, motors, gearboxes, valves and other mechanical equipment. \n
- Maintain PLC-controlled equipment and automated sortation machinery. \n
- Carry out mechanical and electrical maintenance of process equipment. \n
- Maintain and repair balers, compactors and shredding machinery. \n
- Carry out fault finding, diagnostics and reactive breakdown repairs. \n
- Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and accurately record follow-up work. \n
- Assist with equipment improvements, modifications and installation work where required. \n
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping across the site. \n
- Respond to breakdowns and occasional call-outs when required. \n
The successful candidate will be a hands-on Mechanical Engineer / Fitter with experience working with industrial machinery and ideally within a manufacturing, recycling, production or similar environment.

- Strong mechanical maintenance and fitting experience. \n
- Experience maintaining industrial plant and heavy machinery. \n
- Welding and fabrication skills. \n
- Experience with forklift maintenance and repair. \n
- Good electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills. \n
- Experience working with conveyors, motors, gearboxes, pumps and similar industrial equipment. \n
- Experience with balers, compactors, shredders or recycling machinery would be advantageous. \n
- The ability to diagnose faults and carry out effective repairs with minimal supervision. \n
- A proactive approach to preventative maintenance and equipment reliability. \n
- A flexible approach to occasional call-outs and breakdown situations. \n
