Chemistry Team LeaderStoke-on-TrentGiven our continued growth, we are actively seeking a Chemistry Team Leader to join our Food Chemistry Laboratory in Stoke-on-Trent. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced analytical scientist to lead a team within our ISO 17025 accredited laboratory, supporting the delivery of high-quality analytical testing services to our customers.ABOUT YOUThe position requires a highly motivated and technically competent individual with strong analytical chemistry experience and a passion for developing people. You will be comfortable leading a busy laboratory team, managing competing priorities and ensuring work is delivered to the highest quality standards.You will have extensive experience of chromatography techniques and enjoy supporting colleagues through coaching, training and technical guidance.Required skills and experience:Extensive experience within an analytical laboratory environmentStrong chromatography experience including HPLC, GC, LC-MS/MS or equivalent techniquesExperience working within an ISO 17025 accredited laboratoryStrong data review and troubleshooting skillsExcellent organisational and planning abilitiesStrong communication and interpersonal skillsExperience mentoring, training or supporting laboratory colleaguesAbility to work effectively under pressure whilst maintaining quality standardsGood IT literacy and experience using laboratory information systemsCommitment to quality, safety and continuous improvementDesirable:Previous supervisory or team leadership experienceExperience with ELISA techniquesExperience with PCR techniquesFood testing laboratory experienceABOUT THE OPPORTUNITYAs Chemistry Team Leader, you will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership of a team of Chemistry Analysts and Technicians within our Food Chemistry Laboratory. You will ensure laboratory workloads are effectively planned and delivered whilst maintaining compliance with ISO 17025, quality standards and customer requirements.Working closely with the Laboratory Manager, Quality Team and Client Services teams, you will provide technical expertise, support continuous improvement initiatives and help drive operational excellence across the laboratory.This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced analyst looking to take the next step in their leadership career or for an established Team Leader seeking a new challenge within a growing business.Key activities:Lead and support a team of Chemistry Analysts and TechniciansPlan, organise and prioritise laboratory workloadsMonitor work in progress and support turnaround time performanceReview analytical data, results and reports for technical accuracyProvide technical support across chromatographic techniques including HPLC, GC and LC-MS/MSSupport training, competency assessments and development plans for laboratory staffAssist with investigations, non-conformances and corrective actionsSupport internal and external auditsEnsure compliance with ISO 17025, quality and health & safety requirementsWork collaboratively with client services, quality and operational teamsDrive continuous improvement and laboratory efficiency initiativesPromote a positive, high-performing team cultureWHAT WE OFFERJoin Intertek and become part of our global network of inspiring and entrepreneurial colleagues.
