Job summaryThe Gynaecological Oncology Department is looking for a full-time Consultant in Gynaecology with an interest in Gynaecological Oncology. The post holder will be expected to provide specialist Gynaecological Oncology unit services at Guy's and St Thomas' sites. Experience and a demonstrated ability of diagnosing Gynaecological Malignancy, performing out-patient ambulatory management of women with abnormal vaginal bleeding, diagnostic and therapeutic colposcopy, diagnostic surgery to identify gynaecological malignancy. Experience of research, audit and working within a well-established Gynaecological Oncology multidisciplinary team will be a requirement for the post. The postholder should be an accredited Colposcopist with the BSCCP and completed RCOG SITM/ATSM and/or subspecialty training in Gynaecological Oncology. The applicant will be required to have ultrasound scanning skills..This is an excellent opportunity to join a first class team in an active and progressive central London teaching hospital environment. Main duties of the jobThis job is anticipated to contain 10 Programmed Activities per week on average to be carried out on Guy's & St Thomas' sites and includes on-call commitments and Saturday work.This post will provide the appointee with extensive experience in the Urgent Suspected Cancer (USC) service.Please read Job Description for full scope of the role, but main duties include:Rapid Access ClinicsColposcopy ClinicsUltrasound ClinicsDiagnostic TheatresWard RoundMulti Disciplinary Team meetingsClinical Review for patients (including triage and reviewing results)On call 1:8 midweek nights and weekends.About usThe team provides tertiary gynaecological oncology surgery for South East London (catchment area 2.1 million), unit level diagnosis and management of women with gynaecological malignancy and diagnostic and therapeutic colposcopy for women living in Lambeth and Southwark. The team are due to move from women's services to the surgical oncology directorate. The outpatient diagnostic two week wait Rapid Access clinics and Colposcopy clinics are co-located with the benign gynaecology outpatient clinics. The cancer team has many areas of special interest including minimally invasive and fertility sparing surgery, ultra-radical ovarian cancer surgery, sentinel node surgery, the use of ultrasound to diagnose malignant ovarian masses, inherited genetic risk and specialist vulval disease clinics.
