TGRC is supporting the search for a Commercial Director to join RheEnergise, an innovative pumped hydro energy storage company headquartered in North London. RheEnergise’s mission is to deliver ultra-low-cost energy storage solutions that unlock the full potential of renewable energy and accelerate the global energy transition.About RheEnergiseFounded in 2019, RheEnergise has recently achieved a major milestone with the successful development and demonstration of its first pilot plant in Devon, UK. With ongoing testing and technology development in Montreal, Canada—home to deep pumped hydro expertise—the company is now entering an exciting phase of global commercialisation.RheEnergise’s breakthrough High-Density Hydro technology enables pumped hydro energy storage in locations previously considered unviable—using a fluid 2.5x denser than water to operate efficiently on smaller elevation differences.With fresh funding secured and a team of ~30, the business is now poised for rapid growth.The OpportunityReporting directly to the Founder & CEO, this is a pivotal leadership role responsible for shaping and executing RheEnergise’s global commercial strategy.You will build and lead a high-performing commercial function, scaling the team from 3–5 individuals to an international team of 10+ as the company expands. As a member of the Executive Board, you will play a key role in bringing this innovative technology to market and securing major partnerships globally.Key customer segments include utilities, developers, IPPs, public sector organisations, island nations, datacentre developers, and mining companies.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and execute the commercial strategy for global deployment of High-Density Hydro technologyDesign and implement innovative commercial and pricing modelsBuild, lead, and scale a high-performing commercial teamOwn the end-to-end commercial lifecycle for major deals, from origination through to contract execution and performanceWork closely with technical teams to develop tailored solutions for clients, including grid, construction, and engineering challengesBuild and manage a robust sales pipeline and CRM processesLead negotiations on high-value, complex contracts (multi-million )Identify and prioritise strategic opportunities to maximise value creationEstablish strong relationships with key stakeholders across the energy ecosystemIntroduce governance, processes, and best practices to support scaleAbout YouYou are a commercially driven leader with a passion for cleantech and a track record of bringing innovative technologies to market. You thrive in fast-growing environments and enjoy building teams and capabilities from the ground up.Essential Experience10+ years’ experience in a commercial role within energy or renewablesProven success in commercialising new or complex technologiesStrong understanding of wholesale energy and flexibility markets (including cap and floor mechanisms)Experience negotiating high-value, complex contractsDemonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing teamsExcellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skillsResilient, adaptable, and highly motivatedDesirable ExperienceHydropower or long-duration energy storage experienceConstruction or infrastructure project experienceBackground in related sectors (e.g. onshore wind, engineering-led businesses)Experience presenting at industry events and conferencesWillingness to travel internationallyLocation & TravelHQ: Camden, LondonInternational travel required (UK, Europe, North America, and beyond)Discipline(s): Renewable Energy, Grid and StorageJob type: Permanent
