Responsibilities

The staff nurse delivers comprehensive nursing care to patients across all stages of life, employing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. This role operates within the organization's established policies and procedures, showcasing professional development and accountability. The staff nurse is tasked with upholding practice standards and coordinating the patient care activities of all assigned personnel to ensure high-quality nursing services.

QualificationsEducation
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
Work Experience
  • No prior experience is necessary; new graduates from nursing programs are welcome.
  • Experience in a hospital environment is preferred.
  • For PRN positions, at least one year of hospital experience is required.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Current RN - Registered Nurse license in Georgia or NLC/eNLC multistate license is required.
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support certification is required.
Additional Licenses and Certifications
  • Advanced certification in a relevant specialty area may be required (refer to addendum).
Addendum
  • Cardiac Tele: ACLS Certification is required (Nurse Residents or new specialty nurses must complete within 6 months of starting).
  • Critical Care: ACLS Certification is required (Nurse Residents or new specialty nurses must complete within 6 months of starting).
  • Dialysis: CDN (Certified Dialysis Certificate) is preferred.
  • Emergency Department: ACLS and PALS Certifications are required (Nurse Residents or new specialty nurses must complete within 6 months of starting; experienced nurses have 6 months to obtain PALS).
  • Infusion/Oncology: Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification is required prior to independent chemotherapy administration.
  • Pediatrics: Must identify and report high-risk situations, including abuse or neglect. PALS Certification is required at specific locations (Nurse Residents or new specialty nurses must complete within 6 months of starting).
  • Surgical Services: ACLS and PALS Certifications are required for specific roles (Nurse Residents or new specialty nurses must complete within 6 months of starting).
  • Women’s Services: Various certifications, including ACLS and NRP, are required for different roles (Nurse Residents or new specialty nurses must complete within 6 months of starting).
