Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Estimator to support preconstruction and estimating activities for commercial construction projects. The Estimator will assist in developing accurate cost estimates throughout various project phases, coordinate bid processes, review construction documents, and collaborate with project teams to ensure successful project planning and execution. This role also supports continuous process improvement by maintaining estimating databases and participating in post-project reviews.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in preparing conceptual, schematic, design development, and construction document cost estimates.
Coordinate with project teams throughout the design and bidding process.
Prepare bid advertisements and solicit qualified subcontractors and vendors.
Develop bid packages, scopes of work, and bid documentation.
Upload, distribute, and maintain bid documents for bidding activities.
Perform detailed quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and estimate recaps.
Maintain and update master bidder lists and project-specific bidder databases.
Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
Prepare and coordinate Requests for Information (RFIs) to clarify pre-bid questions.
Support entitlement activities, including permitting, jurisdictional reviews, and compliance requirements.
Review subcontractor proposals for completeness, accuracy, and bid tabulation.
Assist in subcontract and purchase order award processes.
Participate in design development meetings, constructability reviews, and value engineering efforts.
Maintain and update estimating templates, work scopes, and historical cost databases.
Participate in post-project reviews to identify lessons learned and improve estimating processes.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related construction field, or equivalent industry experience.
3-5 years of experience in commercial construction estimating or a related preconstruction role.
Experience with commercial projects such as hospitality, senior living, multifamily, automotive, or mixed-use developments is preferred.
Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and estimating principles.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a collaborative environment.
