Compensation Range: $44.91 - $55.62 per hour

Role Overview

In our organization, the Special Procedures Technologist is essential to both patient care and operational efficiency. Working autonomously, they conduct intricate radiology angiographic and interventional procedures while adhering to stringent medical, legal, and professional imaging standards. Their responsibilities include exercising professional judgment during imaging, ensuring proper patient positioning, providing age-appropriate care, and fostering effective collaboration within the imaging department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for procedures by clearly explaining the process and positioning them for quick filming during contrast media administration.
  • Operate diagnostic machinery, fluoroscopy tools, and necessary software to ensure safe and precise diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • Assist physicians during angiographic and interventional procedures by scrubbing, circulating, or monitoring activities.
  • Set up sterile trays and equipment using aseptic techniques, handle instruments, and assist with the passage of catheters and guidewires.
  • Calibrate, maintain, and adjust equipment, promptly reporting any malfunctions to the appropriate support or departmental leadership.
  • Monitor equipment readings and immediately alert the physician to any changes in the patient's condition.
  • Utilize ICVS and PACS systems to accurately enter and label patient images, retrieving previous images and films as needed.
  • Exhibit a solid understanding of procedure protocols, including preparation, positioning, markers, safety, and shielding techniques.
  • Work collaboratively in an invasive or surgical setting, closely cooperating with physicians, nurses, and other technical staff.

Qualifications for Consideration
  • Graduation from an AMA-accredited Radiologic Technology (RT) program or an approved Cardiovascular Technology (CVT) program.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, critical thinking, decisive judgment, collaboration, and the ability to work independently.
  • Active Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications from the American Heart Association are required.
  • Certification as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in Cath Lab or Interventional Radiology scrubbing and hemodynamic monitoring is preferred.
  • Active New Jersey Certified X-Ray Technologist (NJ CXT) license and national registry with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) are preferred.
  • EKG Certification is preferred.
