Job Description
The Department of Medicine is seeking an experienced Research Administrator to join its collaborative research administration team supporting a diverse and growing portfolio of sponsored research. In this role, the incumbent will support faculty throughout the full lifecycle of their research awards, from proposal development and submission through award setup, post-award administration, and closeout, helping advance innovative, investigator-led research.
\nThe position provides an opportunity to manage a variety of moderately complex research proposals, including single-investigator NIH submissions, while reviewing and analyzing key financial components such as budgets, effort commitments, salaries, and project expenditures. The incumbent will work closely with faculty and research administration colleagues in a collaborative support model, partnering with a Senior Research Administrator to provide coordinated expertise and effective portfolio management for assigned Principal Investigators.
\nThe ideal candidate uses skills as a seasoned, experienced research administrator to independently develop and / or oversee research proposals, awards, and / or transactions related to contract and grant management and maintains contract and grant records in compliance with institutional research sponsor policies. The senior fund manager works on proposals and awards of diverse scope where analysis of data requires thorough understanding of complex regulations.
\nAnnual range: $74,445.00-$152,460.00
\nRequired:
\n \n- \n
- Bachelor’s Degree in and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. \n
- 5+ years of research administration experience. \n
- Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate information in a timely, professional manner. \n
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with various stakeholders. \n
- Ability to set priorities and complete ongoing tasks with competing deadlines, with frequent interruptions, to meet programmatic and financial needs. \n
- Close attention to detail in a fast-paced, fluctuating workload environment. \n
- Demonstrated proficiency with Adobe and Microsoft suite software, especially Excel \n
- Strong writing skills in a variety of styles to draft persuasive text for a variety of audiences while ensuring adherence to funding sponsor’s guidelines \n
- Demonstrated knowledge of effective grant funding processes, procedures and techniques \n
- Ability to perform complex financial analysis and customized reporting \n

- Mathematical skills for the preparation of complex calculations and forecasts and to identify and resolve complicated financial scenarios \n
- Knowledge of and experience working with a variety of external sponsors, federal and state sponsors, private foundations, industry sponsors, etc. \n
- Organization skills to create and maintain administrative and financial files effectively. \n
