Position Overview

The Registered Nurse will deliver direct patient care under the guidance of the AVP of Nursing, Nurse Manager, Nursing Supervisor, or their designee.

Work Schedule:

Part-Time (24 hours/week) with rotating weekends

• Day Shift: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
• Evening Shift: 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM
• Night Shift: 11:00 PM - 7:30 AM

Compensation:

Hourly Rate: $39.90 - $58.80, based on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Take full responsibility for the quality of nursing care provided to patients, ensuring optimal health, education, counseling, collaborative planning, and restoration of function.
• Integrate knowledge of patient rights and our mission, vision, and values into nursing practice.
• Serve as a patient advocate, helping them develop self-advocacy skills.
• Timely documentation of all relevant patient information.
• Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments, considering biopsychosocial and medical histories, as well as age, mental, social, and physical status.
• Perform ongoing assessments of patients’ conditions and respond appropriately.
• Communicate special nutritional needs to the registered dietitian.
• Monitor vital signs and report any abnormalities to the physician.
• Create patient-specific crisis plans to enhance safety and minimize the need for external intervention.
• Collaborate with the treatment team in developing patients’ master treatment plans.
• Adhere to the policies, philosophy, and objectives of the Nursing Department and the facility.
• Deliver nursing care effectively, demonstrating sound clinical judgment and professional competency.
• Engage in community meetings and group therapies as assigned.
• Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, families, and staff.
• Conduct patient rounds promptly and document observations accurately.
• Provide ongoing education to patients and families tailored to individual needs.
• Accurately transcribe medication and treatment orders, maintaining the medication administration record (MAR).
• Safely administer prescribed medications and treatments using appropriate methods.
• Evaluate and document patient responses to medications, identifying needs for PRN medications.
• Assume the role of charge nurse as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program.

Experience:

• At least 2 years of relevant psychiatric experience.

Licensure/Certification:

• Current RN license in Massachusetts.
• CPR certification required prior to employment.

Knowledge:

• Understanding of general and psychiatric nursing processes, therapeutic relationships, age-specific growth and development, limit setting, and crisis management.

Required Skills:

• Excellent organizational and communication abilities.
• Strong attention to detail and the capacity to prioritize tasks independently.
• Ability to multitask in a dynamic mental health environment.
• Collaborative team player.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Physical Requirements:

• Physical agility to manage patients in crisis, including the ability to push, pull, and lift between 10 to 75 pounds. Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, and stoop intermittently.
