Discover a Day in the Life of a Med-Surg RNResponsibilities
  • Under the guidance of the Nurse Manager, you will oversee shift management and ensure the quality of care in your assigned area.
  • The Charge RN acts as a communication link, keeping the Nurse Manager and House Supervisor informed about significant events and unit needs. You will provide initial supervision, assign patient loads each shift, and offer clinical support to nursing staff (e.g., managing patient loads, assisting with admissions/procedures, etc.) while addressing patient care challenges.
  • You will assist in mentoring new team members and academic partners, as well as participate in the annual performance evaluation process. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
  • The RN evaluates patient and family needs, sets and prioritizes patient goals, assesses care delivery, and continuously updates the care plan to address the biological, emotional, psychosocial, spiritual, developmental, and educational requirements of patients and their families.
  • The RN delegates care appropriately to enhance patient outcomes.
  • The RN complies with the Kansas Nurse Practice Act.
Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • Associate's degree in nursing.
  • Current RN licensure in Kansas.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be acquired within 14 days of hire or transfer into the position and before providing direct patient care.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification specific to the unit.

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing.
  • Preference will be given to RNs with experience in a comparable healthcare environment.
