Delta Locum Tenens
Richlands, VA, US Full Time

Job Description

Job Description
Job Overview

Specialty: Obstetrics and Gynecology

Location: Richland, WA

Summary

Our organization is in search of skilled, board-certified OB/GYN physicians for a long-term locum assignment to support an expanding women's health initiative. Given the integrated nature of our practice, we are particularly interested in candidates who can provide coverage across various care environments, including outpatient clinics, hospital operating rooms, ambulatory surgery centers (ASC), and limited backup hospital call duties.

Practice Setting

Providers will collaborate with a dynamic team of OB/GYN physicians, advanced practice providers (APPs), and certified nurse midwives. Physicians should be adept at offering consultation, support, and clinical guidance for complex cases managed by APPs and midwives. In addition to patient care, physicians will be expected to act as experienced clinical resources and mentors for newer team members. Note that procedural proctoring is not a requirement.

Core Coverage Requirements

The ideal candidate should be able to support at least two of the following three areas:

  1. OB/GYN Clinic
  2. Surgical/OR Coverage (Hospital and/or ASC)
  3. Hospital Call Coverage

Preference will be given to those who can cover all three functions.

Schedule Expectations

Preferred Commitment:

  • Full-time coverage: 5 days per week, 4 weeks per month
  • We will consider providers who can work a minimum of 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off each month
  • Candidates available for less than two weeks per month will not be considered
Typical Hours
  • Monday-Friday (clinic and surgery) from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Call coverage will be scheduled as 24-hour shifts.
  • Guaranteed 8 hours per day (clinic and surgery)
  • Overtime applies after 40 hours per week (clinic and surgery)
Coverage Flexibility

A crucial aspect of this position is the need for provider flexibility. Schedules may vary weekly, and providers should be comfortable transitioning between:

  • Outpatient clinic
  • Hospital operating room
  • Ambulatory surgery center (ASC)

Assignments may not follow a consistent pattern, requiring physicians to shift between clinic and procedural responsibilities based on patient volumes.

Call Requirements

While the primary focus is on clinic and surgical coverage, we require a subset of locum physicians to participate in backup hospital call coverage. Call expectations include:

  • Low-volume backup call
  • Average callback frequency of approximately two days per week
  • Typical callback duration of 2-4 hours when activated
  • Weekend backup call coverage needed
  • Ability to leave scheduled clinic duties when necessary to support unexpected hospital coverage
