\n \nLutheran Hospital’s 3B Adult Psych Unit is one of two nursing units in the Acute Adult Behavioral Health Center that provides around the clock care for adult and older adult patients with behavioral, emotional and/or psychiatric disorders who require close supervision, ongoing assessment and/or intensive treatment to restore or maintain optimal functioning. As an Assistant Nurse Manager on this unit, you will provide clinical supervision and coordinate unit and area clinical operations in collaboration with other departmental disciplines. You will provide effective and efficient patient care to patients of all ages on assigned shifts or as otherwise designated and assume the responsibilities of the Nurse Manager in their absence.

\n \nA caregiver in this role works an evening/night rotation from 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.
\n \nA caregiver who excels in this role will:

Facilitate communication and collaboration among unit staff and across departments to support patient care.
\n - \n
Ensure continuity of care between shifts; coordinates admissions, discharges, transfers, and daily operations.
\n - \n
Review major operational and patient care issues with Nurse Managers.
\n - \n
Provide ongoing clinical evaluation of nursing and patient care staff.
\n - \n
Counsel staff on performance, initiate corrective actions, and monitor attendance.
\n - \n
Escalate significant clinical or performance concerns to the Nurse Manager.
\n - \n
Participate in interviewing, hiring, and performance appraisals.
\n - \n
Monitor adherence to EEO/AAP goals and guidelines.
\n - \n
Ensure compliance with Nursing Institute, departmental, and organizational policies and procedures.
\n - \n
Supervise and participate in daily patient care delivery.
\n - \n
Develop staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage across all shifts.
\n - \n
Support quality improvement, outcomes research, and committee participation.
\n - \n
Assist with orientation, continuing education, and in-service programs.
\n - \n
Perform other duties as assigned.
\n
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing
\n - \n
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN)
\n - \n
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
\n - \n
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
\n - \n
*If in a Critical Care area an Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) certification must be presented upon hire or within first year of employment

Two years of recent RN experience
\n - \n
Strong demonstrated clinical knowledge and skills
\n

Previous supervisory experience

Physical Requirements:

Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.

Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.

Requires some exposure to communicable disease or bodily fluids.
\n - \n
Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Pay Range
\n \nMinimum hourly: $39.50
\n \nMaximum hourly: $59.60
