Director of Landscape Design & Construction

Location: Hybrid - Canton, MA

Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Landscape Design-Build Project Manager to partner closely with company leadership in delivering luxury residential landscape projects. This role combines creative design, technical expertise, project management, and field leadership to oversee projects from concept through construction.

The ideal candidate will manage design development, permitting, budgeting, subcontractor coordination, client relationships, and construction execution while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead projects from concept through construction completion.

• Prepare and oversee construction documents, including grading, drainage, planting, layout, and hardscape details.

• Manage project budgets, subcontractor bidding, procurement, and cost control.

• Serve as the primary client contact throughout the project lifecycle.

• Coordinate architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders.

• Oversee field operations to ensure quality, schedule, and design intent are maintained.

• Manage permitting processes, including conservation, wetlands, and zoning approvals.

• Support continuous improvement of design standards and project delivery processes.

Qualifications

Required

• 7+ years of experience managing high-end residential landscape design-build projects.

• Experience managing projects valued at $500K-$1M+.

• Proven experience overseeing both design and construction execution.

• Experience soliciting, evaluating, and negotiating subcontractor bids.

• Strong client communication and leadership skills.

• Proficiency in preparing construction-level documentation.

• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel throughout the Greater Boston and South Shore areas.

Preferred

• Massachusetts Registered Landscape Architect (RLA) or eligibility for licensure.

• Degree in Landscape Architecture or related field.

• Experience with Massachusetts conservation, wetlands, and zoning permitting.

• Experience preparing project budgets and cost estimates.
