Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - FQHC / Primary Care Clinic
Location: Humble, TX
Position Type: Contract-to-Hire (1040 hours)
Pay: $18.50-$22.50/hour (DOE)
Schedule: Monday-Friday, typically 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (rotating Mondays until 7:00 PM)
Setting: Fully Onsite
Dress Code: Navy Blue Scrubs
About the Role
A great FQHC/primary care clinic in Humble is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join their team. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, patient-focused professional who can support both clinical and administrative functions while delivering high-quality care in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare for daily clinic operations, including provider huddles and room setup
- Room patients, obtain vital signs, and complete clinical screenings
- Administer vaccines and medications per provider orders
- Monitor and document vaccine refrigerator temperatures
- Assist providers with exams, minor procedures, and patient care
- Perform point-of-care testing (POCT) and document results accurately
- Manage Epic In-Basket tasks, including patient messages and follow-ups
- Conduct patient callbacks regarding results and care instructions
- Coordinate referrals, imaging, and specialty appointments
- Maintain vaccine inventory in compliance with state programs
- Sterilize instruments and maintain exam room cleanliness
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and infection control standards
Required Qualifications
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification required
- High school diploma or GED required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- Experience in both clinical and administrative functions
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Reliable attendance and professionalism
- Friendly, patient-centered demeanor
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced setting
- Dependable and team-oriented
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a primary care or FQHC setting
- Epic EMR experience
- Front and back office experience
- Vaccine administration experience
- Point-of-care testing experience
- Knowledge of OSHA and sterilization procedures
- Experience managing Epic In-Basket workflows
- Ability to support multiple providers
- Pediatric experience a plus
- Bilingual Spanish preferred
