Job Description
Are you a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer who enjoys taking ideas from concept through to production?
\nWe're looking for an experienced engineer to design, build and commission jigs, fixtures, assembly aids and production equipment while supporting New Product Introduction (NPI). This is a practical role where you'll spend time in CAD, the workshop and on the production floor, ensuring products move into manufacturing safely, efficiently and with repeatable quality.
\nKey Responsibilities
\n- \n
- Design and develop jigs, fixtures, assembly aids, gauges, holding tools and test equipment. \n
- Produce CAD models, engineering drawings and bills of materials. \n
- Assemble, fit, trial and commission tooling and manufacturing equipment. \n
- Support New Product Introduction from prototype through to full production. \n
- Apply Design for Manufacture (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), GD&T and ergonomic principles. \n
- Develop and improve assembly, inspection and functional test processes. \n
- Produce work instructions, process documentation and standard operating procedures. \n
- Investigate manufacturing issues using structured root cause analysis and implement corrective actions. \n
- Work closely with design, quality, production, procurement and external suppliers. \n
- Support injection moulding and aluminium die-casting tooling reviews and production trials. \n
- Identify opportunities to reduce defects, improve quality and increase manufacturing efficiency. \n
What We're Looking For
\n- \n
- Degree, HNC/HND, apprenticeship or equivalent experience in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Production or Mechatronics Engineering. \n
- Previous experience within Manufacturing Engineering, Production Engineering or NPI. \n
- Proven experience designing and building jigs, fixtures or assembly and test equipment. \n
- Strong CAD skills using SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, Inventor or similar. \n
- Experience creating engineering drawings with GD&T. \n
- Good understanding of machining, fabricated parts, plastics and mechanical assemblies. \n
- Experience supporting prototype and production builds. \n
- Strong problem-solving skills using methods such as 8D, 5 Whys or Fishbone Analysis. \n
- Ability to create manufacturing documentation including work instructions and BOMs. \n
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work across engineering, production and supplier teams. \n
Desirable Experience:
\n- \n
- Functional test, inspection or calibration fixtures. \n
- Pneumatic or sensor-controlled tooling. \n
- Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, PFMEA, SPC or Control Plans. \n
- Experience working with injection moulding and aluminium die-casting suppliers. \n
- Understanding of DFM for plastic injection moulded and aluminium die-cast components. \n
- Knowledge of machinery safety and CE/UKCA requirements. \n
