Job Description

We are looking for a passionate QTS KS3 Science Teacher to join a reputable secondary school in Tonbridge, Kent. This is on a 6-month temporary contract, with the opportunity to progress to a permanent role for the right candidate.

About the Role

This is an exciting, rare opportunity for a KS3 Science Teacher to inspire and engage their students, at a well-regarded secondary school.

\n

Working hours: 08:45 - 15:45, Monday to Friday, term time only. Fully on site.

\n

Salary: £35,000-£39,000, depending on experience.

\n

About You

  • Previous secondary Science teaching experience - essential
  • \n
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - essential
  • \n
  • Strong knowledge of the KS3 Science curriculum
  • \n
  • Confident in planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons
  • \n
  • A strong passion for inspiring students and developing their interest in Science
  • \n
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills, with the confidence to manage challenging behaviour effectively while maintain positive relationships with students
  • \n
  • Committed to supporting student's academic progress and well-being
  • \n
  • Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
  • \n
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • \n

Key Responsibilities

\n
    \n
  • Plan and deliver engaging, high quality KS3 Science lessons, teaching across relevant areas of Biology, Chemistry and Physics
  • \n
  • Adapt teaching and learning to meet the individual needs and capabilities of students, and encouraging them to develop scientific thinking, curiosity and problem-solving skills
  • \n
  • Assess, monitor and track student progress and abilities, and create improvement and support plans based on needs
  • \n
  • Prepare and deliver safe and stimulating practical experiments and investigations
  • \n
  • Build strong, positive relationships with students, and colleagues within the Science department
  • \n
  • Prepare and deliver safe and stimulating practical experiments and investigations
  • \n
  • Follow the school's safeguarding, behaviour and health & safety policies
  • \n
  • Support students in developing the knowledge and skills needed for successful progression into GCSE Science.
  • \n
  • Promote and uphold the safeguarding and wellbeing of all students, following school policies and procedures.
