Development Underwriter Location: Yorkshire / North East Salary: Competitive base salary + Bonus + Benefits IPS Group is working with a well-established insurer to recruit a Development Underwriter to support growth across the Yorkshire region, focusing on Commercial Combined business. This is a key regional hire, playing a visible role in driving new business and strengthening broker relationships across a growing portfolio. This is a trading-focused underwriting role with a strong emphasis on new business generation. You’ll build and develop broker relationships, identify opportunities, and take a proactive approach to winning and growing accounts across both open market and e-trade platforms. The role is highly market-facing, involving regular broker engagement, negotiation, and trading conversations, while also supporting wider regional growth initiatives. You’ll act as a referral point internally, providing technical input and helping support both retention and profitable growth. You’ll manage a pipeline of SME Commercial Combined risks, working on more complex cases, hitting financial targets, and contributing directly to regional performance. We’re looking for someone with solid experience underwriting Commercial Combined SME risks, ideally with a strong track record in new business and broker development. A commercial mindset, confidence in trading decisions, and the ability to build relationships quickly are key.
