\nTradewind Recruitment are currently looking for a confident, reliable and resilient Cover Supervisor to join a specialist secondary school in Milton Keynes from September 2026.
\nThe school supports secondary-aged students with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The setting provides a structured and supportive environment where positive relationships, consistency and individualised support are key to helping students engage with education.
The Role\nAs a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes across a range of subjects, ensuring students remain engaged and supported when their usual teacher is unavailable. You will be provided with lesson plans and resources, with your role focused on maintaining a positive learning environment and supporting students to complete their work.
\nYour responsibilities will include:

- Supervising secondary-aged classes across different subjects. \n
- Delivering pre-prepared lesson work and supporting students with their learning. \n
- Managing behaviour calmly and consistently. \n
- Building positive relationships with students. \n
- Supporting students with SEN and SEMH needs. \n
- Working closely with teachers and support staff. \n
- Following school routines, policies and individual support strategies. \n
- Helping to maintain a safe, structured and positive classroom environment. \n
The school is looking for someone who is patient, approachable and confident when working with young people. Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, Learning Mentor or within an SEN/SEMH setting would be beneficial, but is not essential.

- Experience working with secondary-aged students. \n
- Confidence managing a classroom independently. \n
- A calm and consistent approach to behaviour. \n
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills. \n
- Resilience and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations. \n
- A genuine interest in supporting young people with additional needs. \n
You will have a dedicated consultant, Alana, supporting you throughout your placement, alongside access to 2,500+ free CPD courses through the National College and ongoing opportunities across SEN, SEMH and AP settings.
