Want to build a career designing the equipment at the heart of the UK's electrical infrastructure?
\nAn opportunity has opened with a global electrical manufacturer specialising in MV/HV switchgear, protection & power distribution equipment, joining an established engineering team in Leeds.
\nThis isn't a role where you'll be expected to arrive knowing every product inside out. We're looking for engineers with a strong electrical foundation who want to develop specialist knowledge within switchgear design & application engineering.
\nYou'll work on the technical development of MV power distribution projects, taking customer requirements & translating them into practical engineered solutions across switchgear, protection & control systems, substations & associated distribution equipment.
The Role\n- \n
- \n
Develop technical designs & application solutions for MV/HV power distribution equipment
\n - \n
Produce & review single-line diagrams, electrical schematics, equipment configurations & technical documentation
\n - \n
Work with MV switchgear, circuit breakers, protection relays, CT/VT arrangements & control systems
\n - \n
Interpret customer specifications & translate requirements into engineered solutions
\n - \n
Support tendering & commercial teams with technical input during bid stages
\n - \n
Provide engineering support throughout project delivery, manufacturing & testing
\n - \n
Work closely with customers, project engineers, manufacturing & wider engineering teams
\n - \n
Ensure designs meet relevant technical standards, specifications & project requirements
\n - \n
Develop specialist product knowledge with structured support from experienced engineers
\n
We're open to engineers coming from several different routes, including:
\n- \n
- \n
Electrical Design / Application Engineering
\n - \n
Switchgear or switchboard design
\n - \n
MV/HV engineering
\n - \n
Protection & Control
\n - \n
Electrical Project Engineering
\n - \n
Commissioning / Testing
\n - \n
Tendering / Proposals Engineering
\n - \n
Electrical engineering graduates with relevant power systems knowledge
\n
Previous switchgear experience would be highly beneficial, but isn't essential for every applicant.
\nFor a graduate or early-career Electrical Engineer, this is an opportunity to move into a specialist design environment & develop hands-on knowledge of MV switchgear, protection, control & power distribution systems with the backing of a major global manufacturer.
\nFor an experienced engineer, it offers the opportunity to move away from predominantly site-based work & apply your technical knowledge within a more design, product & project-focused position.
\nSponsorship not available.
