Commercial Refrigeration Engineer - Watford Circa £57,000 Including Standby | Paid Travel | 1-in-4 Call-Out | Private Healthcare Looking to push your earnings beyond the usual Refrigeration Engineer package? This Watford-based mobile position offers a package of around £57,000 including standby payments, with paid travel, overtime and a company vehicle. The position is focused on commercial refrigeration service and maintenance, giving you a varied mix of planned work, breakdown response, fault diagnosis and repairs across customer sites in the region. You'll be trusted to manage your own jobs, diagnose issues properly rather than simply changing parts and keep customers informed throughout the process. There is also plenty of scope to increase your earnings through overtime and the 1-in-4 standby rota. The Work Your day-to-day workload will involve keeping commercial refrigeration equipment running reliably and responding when systems don't. You'll be responsible for: Completing scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance Attending refrigeration breakdowns and carrying out fault diagnosis Repairing refrigeration systems and associated components Investigating recurring faults and identifying underlying issues Carrying out electrical fault-finding where required Highlighting equipment requiring remedial or replacement work Recording work completed through service reports and job sheets Working to customer, company and health & safety requirements Package Circa £57,000 including standby payments Paid travel 45-hour contracted week Overtime available 1-in-4 call-out rota Company vehicle Fuel card Specialist tools and PPE 33 days' annual leave including bank holidays Private healthcare Life assurance Matched pension scheme Additional employee benefits and discounts Technical Requirements You should have a recognised refrigeration qualification and be comfortable working independently on commercial equipment. Essential: NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning F-Gas Category 1 Full UK Driving LicenceAdditional experience that would be advantageous: Commercial refrigeration CO2 / R744 systems Hydrocarbon refrigerants Electrical fault-finding 18th Edition IPAF The Engineer The key requirement is someone who can turn up to a site, identify the problem and get the equipment back into service. You'll need to be comfortable working independently, dealing directly with customers and managing a varied workload without needing constant supervision. Reliability is particularly important given the standby element of the position.
