Job Description
Position: Electrical Field Service Engineer x2 Location: 1x Covering Yorkshire | 1x Covering Manchester/ Lancashire Salary: c.£45k basic + Overtime + Performance Bonus + Car The Company: CNC Machine Tools Distributor The Role: • To install, commission, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair CNC machine tools and associated electrical/control systems at customer sites. • The role requires strong electrical and electronic engineering expertise with extensive knowledge of CNC control systems including Heidenhain, Siemens, and Fanuc. • The engineer will support customers by minimising machine downtime and delivering high-quality technical service. • Install and commission CNC machine tools and automation equipment. • Diagnose and repair electrical, electronic, and CNC control faults. • Carry out preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing. • Fault-find on CNC systems, drives, motors, PLCs, and machine electrics. • Troubleshoot Servo Drives, Spindle drives, Power supplies, I/O systems, Safety circuits, Encoders and feedback systems • Interpret electrical schematics, ladder diagrams, and technical documentation. • Carry out machine diagnostics using OEM software and service tools. • Support PLC fault-finding and basic modifications where required. • Backup and restore CNC parameters and machine data. • Perform machine testing, calibration, and operational verification. • Provide technical support and operator guidance to customers. • Complete detailed service reports and maintenance documentation. • Liaise with technical support, parts departments, and customers to resolve issues efficiently. • Ensure all work complies with electrical safety standards and site regulations. Requirements: • Proven experience servicing CNC machine tools • Strong electrical & electronic fault-finding skills • Experience with Heidenhain, Fanuc & Siemens controls • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics. • Ability to fault find AC and DC electrical issues, diagnose cabinet components and offer solutions / modifications. • Apprentice-trained engineer or equivalent qualification
