Job Title: Quality Inspector - Major Highways Infrastructure Project Location: M60 Simister Island Interchange, Greater Manchester (Site-based) Contract Type: Contract - 12 Months Rate: PAYE Umbrella & Ltd company available Start Date: ASAP The Role An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Quality Inspector/Engineer to join a major motorway junction improvement scheme in Greater Manchester, working for a leading principal contractor on one of the North West's busiest and most high-profile road infrastructure projects. As Quality Inspector, you will act as the first line of defence in promoting a strong quality culture across the site, supporting the Delivery Team through coaching, training and on-site presence, while carrying out independent inspections of the works to ensure compliance with the approved Detail Design and Work Information. This is a fantastic opportunity for a quality professional with a civils background to play a key role on a nationally significant infrastructure scheme. Key Responsibilities Carry out independent site inspections and act as first line of defence against substandard work, coaching and training the Delivery and Quality teams Check works in progress and on completion to ensure construction is in line with the Work Information and Detail Design Act as the point of liaison between delivery teams and sub-contractors, promoting a "right first time" quality culture Represent the Quality team at Start of Shift meetings and Collaborative Planning sessions, escalating non-conformances to Quality Managers/Engineers Assist in the compilation of Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) and handover documentation, ensuring hold points are adhered to Support Quality Engineers with site surveillances and formal inspection documentation in line with client requirements Provide support to Quality Inspectors across other disciplines on the project as requiredEssential Skills & Experience Experience working on civil engineering projects, ideally including precast concrete, piling, earthworks and surfacing Extensive experience of on-site inspections against approved Detail Design, with onsite NCR management Competent in MS Word and Excel Relevant CSCS card On-site training in QualityDesirable Skills & Experience Experience in a quality role on a major roads infrastructure project Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 quality management systems SMSTS Understanding of NEC contractsWhat's on Offer Competitive day rate (PAYE, Umbrella, or Limited Company options - role subject to IR35 status) 12-month contract on a major, high-profile national infrastructure scheme Opportunity to work alongside an experienced quality and delivery team on a landmark motorway junction upgrade
