We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Project Manager to join a leading construction contractor delivering a major new build school project in Shetland.

\n


\n

This is a fantastic opportunity to take a senior leadership role on a high-profile project, overseeing delivery from inception through to completion while maintaining the highest standards of health & safety, quality and programme performance.

About the Role

\n

As Senior Project Manager, you will work closely with the Project Quantity Surveyor, providing the necessary input to allow accurate reporting on the current and projected financial position of the project. You will also play a key role in developing and managing the project's main logic programme, ensuring the successful coordination and delivery of all works.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing Method Statements and Risk Assessments, alongside the Safety Plan, ensuring compliance with CDM Regulations as Principal Contractor.
  • \n
  • Providing leadership, direction and support to the wider project team.
  • \n
  • Managing labour resources and maintaining high levels of productivity.
  • \n
  • Expediting materials and ensuring timely release of information from the design team.
  • \n
  • Ensuring compliance with the company's Quality Procedures and Manual.
  • \n
  • Managing subcontractors and the wider supply chain effectively.
  • \n
  • Monitoring programme performance and ensuring key milestones are achieved.
  • \n
  • Supervising the quality of works and driving the project towards a snag-free handover.
  • \n
  • Ensuring all works are undertaken in line with company Health & Safety policies and the Construction Phase Plan.
  • \n
  • Working collaboratively with the client, design team, subcontractors and internal stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.

About You

\n

You will have significant experience working in a senior project management position within the construction industry, ideally with experience delivering large-scale education, public sector or complex new build projects.

\n

You will have:

\n
    \n
  • Proven experience managing construction projects from inception through to completion.
  • \n
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • \n
  • A degree in a built environment discipline or relevant trade-based experience.
  • \n
  • Strong knowledge of Health & Safety, CDM and construction best practice.
  • \n
  • Experience managing subcontractors and supply chain partners.
  • \n
  • Strong programme and commercial awareness.
  • \n
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • \n
  • The confidence to deal effectively with clients, consultants, subcontractors and site teams at all levels.
  • \n
  • A strong commitment to delivering high-quality projects safely, on time and to budget.
  • \n
