Costs Lawyer – Leeds/Remote
\nAn exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Costs Lawyer, Solicitor or equivalent legal professional to join a leading, international law firm.
\nThis is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong technical costs experience to manage a varied and complex caseload while working within an established and supportive specialist team.
\nThe role offers hybrid working and high levels of flexibility with only 1 day a month in the office required.
\nAs a Senior Costs Lawyer/Costs Lawyer, you will manage your own caseload of predominantly Defendant costs matters, ensuring files are progressed efficiently and to a high standard in line with client service level agreements.
\nKey Responsibilities
\n- \n
- Manage a varied caseload of Defendant and/or Claimant costs matters \n
- Handle all aspects of costs case management from instruction through to conclusion \n
- Draft Points of Dispute and Replies \n
- Prepare Bills of Costs and Schedules of Costs \n
- Negotiate costs offers and settlements \n
- Advise on all aspects of third-party costs claims \n
- Prepare costs budgets and Budget Discussion Reports \n
- Handle high-value and complex costs matters \n
- Attend interim applications, Costs and Case Management Hearings and Detailed Assessment Hearings where required \n
- Ensure management information is accurate and maintained in line with client SLAs \n
- Provide technical support and guidance to junior members of the team where appropriate \n
You will be a qualified Costs Lawyer, Solicitor or equivalent, with strong experience managing a costs caseload.
\nYou will ideally have experience handling costs matters within the insurance sector and a detailed understanding of the current costs landscape.
\nEssential Experience

- Qualified Costs Lawyer, Solicitor or equivalent \n
- Experience handling Defendant and/or Claimant costs files \n
- Strong experience within insurance-related costs, including areas such as:\n
- \n
- Road Traffic Accidents \n
- Employers' and Public Liability \n
- Industrial Disease \n
- Clinical and Medical Negligence \n
\n - Detailed working knowledge of the Fixed Recoverable Costs regime \n
- Experience preparing costs budgets and Budget Discussion Reports \n
- Advocacy experience, including attending interim applications, Costs and Case Management Hearings and Detailed Assessment Hearings \n
- Experience negotiating high-value and complex costs matters \n
- Strong drafting experience, including Bills of Costs, Points of Dispute, Replies and Schedules of Costs \n
