Pre Construction Manager

Role Overview We are currently seeking an experienced Pre-Construction Manager or Pre-Construction Director to join an established and growing M&E contractor with a strong reputation across the UK. This is a senior position overseeing the wider pre-construction function, covering estimating, business development, client relationships, design coordination, commercial strategy, and the successful handover of projects into delivery. The business delivers mechanical and electrical building services across a wide range of sectors, including healthcare, education, commercial, industrial, hospitality, residential, and highly technical environments. Roles and Responsibilities * Leading and developing the pre-construction and estimating function * Driving new business, tenders, frameworks, and repeat opportunities * Managing key client relationships and supporting long-term account growth * Overseeing mechanical and electrical estimating and tender submissions * Working with design and BIM teams to develop buildable and commercially viable solutions * Managing tender strategy, pricing, risk, exclusions, and commercial considerations * Ensuring successful projects are clearly handed over into the delivery teams * Leading, mentoring, and developing estimating and pre-construction personnel * Contributing to wider business strategy and growth at Director level Skills and Qualifications Required * Strong senior experience within M&E pre-construction, estimating, bid management, or commercial leadership * Previous experience within an M&E contractor or building services environment * Strong understanding of both mechanical and electrical building services * Proven experience winning work and developing client relationships * Strong commercial awareness and understanding of project risk * Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills * Experience delivering complex or technically demanding projects would be advantageous * HNC/Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering would be beneficial * Full UK Driving License What's On Offer * £70,000 – £90,000 depending on experience and level appointed * Opportunity to join at either Manager or Director level * Senior leadership involvement at Director level * Genuine opportunity to shape and develop the pre-construction function * Strong pipeline of projects across multiple sectors * Established M&E contractor with a strong reputation and long-standing client relationships * Excellent opportunity for long-term progression and career development
