MB968: Senior EstimatorLocation: SwindonSalary: £80,000 - £85,000 + £6,325 Car AllowanceWorking Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per weekAdditional Company Benefits: Exceptional Career Development Opportunities, Company Car/Car Allowance (Depending on job grade), Pension matched up to 8%, 25 days annual leave – plus holiday (opportunity to buy/sell leave will be implemented from January 2026), Private medical insurance, Free 24/7 EAPOverview:First Military Recruitment is proudly working in partnership with a fantastic national construction business who are looking to recruit a Senior Estimator on a permanent basis due to growth based at their Swindon depot.Duties and Responsibilities:

- Ensure company governance procedures are followed at all times \n
- Work in coordination with the Bid Manager to ensure competitive pricing \n
- Agree methodologies and outputs for key activities with planner and, where appropriate, with Bid Manager / Design Manger \n
- Provide advice to Bid Manager / Design Manager on most cost effective design options \n
- Price alternative design solutions \n
- Procedure competitive price using methodologies and outputs etc to suit conditions/ situations relevant to the scheme. \n
- Advise Bid Manager of sufficiency of client bill of quantity / activity schedule and arrange for full quantity take off or checking as required. \n
- Develop local rates/ build up rates for self-delivered items \n
- Ensure Working Rule Agreement (and any other specific requirements such as London Living wage) included in labour rates \n
- Prepare scheme specific labour rate calculation where required. \n

- Liaise with Planner to reconcile plant resource levels \n
- Comparison sheet for materials considering unit rate (conversation factors), wastage, waiting times and part loads etc. \n
- Liaise with procurement to determine appropriate selection of suppliers to send enquiries to. \n
- Liaise with procurement to determine the sufficiency and compliance of supplier quotations \n
- Liaise with procurement and agree on the selection of supplier quotations to be used in the estimate \n
- Liaise with procurement & bid team to determine appropriate selection of subcontractors to send enquires to \n
- Liaise with procurement to determine sufficiency and compliance of subcontractor quotations \n
- Preparation of comparation sheet for subcontractors details additions/ deletions from quoted rates \n
- Liaise with procurement and bid manager and agree on the selection of the subcontractor to be used in the estimate. \n
- Liaise with Planner / Technical Services / Temporary Works Coordinator to agree extent and nature of temporary works. \n
- Agree costs of temporary works with temporary works coordinator. \n
Skills and Experience:

- Sound knowledge of civil engineering and construction techniques \n
- Knowledge of relevant procurement legislation \n
- Commercial awareness of different forms of contract \n
- Sound knowledge of the governance and procedural requirements for work winning. \n
- Detailed knowledge of estimating software packages \n
