An excellent opportunity for an experienced Team Leader, Senior Practitioner or Deputy Manager to take the next step in their career.

Our client is a growing provider of supported accommodation for young people and is looking for a confident and motivated Deputy Manager to join their team in Plymouth.

Supporting young people aged 16-17, you will work closely with the Registered Manager to help ensure the service is safe, well-led and focused on achieving positive outcomes for the young people in its care.

This is a hands-on management position offering the opportunity to make a genuine difference while developing your career within children's services.

The Role

Working alongside the Registered Manager, you will support the effective day-to-day running of the service and deputise in their absence.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Providing visible and supportive leadership to Team Leaders and Support Workers.
\n
• Promoting high standards of safeguarding, care and child-centred practice.
\n
• Supporting staff through supervision, development, team meetings and performance management.
\n
• Monitoring support plans, risk assessments, records and overall quality of practice.
\n
• Supporting audits, quality assurance and continuous service improvement.
\n
• Responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns, incidents and challenging situations.
\n
• Helping young people develop independence, confidence and essential life skills.
\n
• Building strong relationships with social workers, Local Authorities, education providers and other professionals.
\n
• Supporting Ofsted readiness and maintaining high standards across the service.
\n
• Assisting with recruitment, induction, training and staff development.
\n
• Supporting staffing levels, rotas and the day-to-day operational management of the service.
\n
• Participating in the management on-call rota when required.
\n

About You

We're looking for someone who is experienced, approachable and confident in leading others.

You may currently be working as a:

\n
• Deputy Manager
\n
• Team Leader
\n
• Senior Support Worker
\n
• Senior Practitioner
\n
• Children's Residential Practitioner
\n
• Supported Accommodation professional
\n
• Leaving Care or young people's services professional
\n

You'll ideally have experience working with children or young people, together with a strong understanding of safeguarding, risk management and promoting positive outcomes.

You'll also have:

\n
• A relevant Level 3 qualification in Children & Young People, Residential Childcare, Health & Social Care or equivalent.
\n
• Experience supervising or supporting other members of staff.
\n
• Experience contributing to support plans, risk assessments, audits or quality assurance.
\n
• Strong communication, organisational and leadership skills.
\n
• A commitment to promoting young people's independence, safety and wellbeing.
\n
• A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
\n

Experience within supported accommodation, Ofsted-regulated services, working with 16-17-year-olds or a Level 5 management qualification would be advantageous.

However, strong candidates with transferable children's services experience are encouraged to apply.
