Construction Assessor

Are you an experienced Construction NVQ Assessor looking for a flexible, home-based role with a growing training provider?

We are recruiting on behalf of an established and expanding vocational training provider that delivers industry-focused training and nationally recognised construction NVQ qualifications.

This is a predominantly remote role, offering the flexibility to work from home while carrying out workplace observations and site visits when required. The organisation is focused on learner success, quality outcomes and professional development, making this an excellent opportunity for an assessor looking to join a growing and ambitious team.

Key responsibilities include:

\n
• Managing an allocated caseload of construction NVQ learners.
\n
• Conducting initial assessments and creating assessment plans.
\n
• Supporting learners to identify and gather suitable workplace evidence.
\n
• Reviewing and assessing portfolios against qualification standards.
\n
• Carrying out professional discussions and other assessment activities.
\n
• Completing workplace observations and site visits where required.
\n
• Providing timely, constructive feedback to learners.
\n
• Maintaining accurate assessment records and documentation.
\n
• Monitoring learner progress and driving timely achievement.
\n
• Using e-portfolio and remote assessment systems effectively.
\n
• Working collaboratively with assessors and quality assurance colleagues.
\n
• Ensuring assessment decisions meet awarding organisation requirements and industry standards.
\n
• Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) Or willing to work towards
\n

To be successful in this role, you will have:

\n
• A recognised assessor qualification (A1, CAVA or equivalent).
\n
• Relevant construction industry experience and occupational competence.
\n
• Experience assessing construction NVQs or other competence-based qualifications.
\n
• A strong understanding of workplace evidence and assessment methodology.
\n
• The ability to independently manage an active learner caseload.
\n
• Excellent organisational and record-keeping skills.
\n
• Strong communication skills and the confidence to engage with employers and experienced tradespeople.
\n
• The ability to work effectively from home and manage your own workload.
\n
• A willingness to travel for learner visits and workplace observations when required.
\n
• A full UK driving licence and access to suitable transport.
\n

Highly Desirable

\n
• Broad construction experience across multiple trades or occupational areas.
\n
• An IQA qualification (V1, Level 4 IQA or equivalent).
\n
• Experience conducting interim and final IQA reviews.
\n
• Knowledge of GQA qualifications.
\n
• Experience using electronic portfolio systems such as Quals Direct.
\n
• Experience managing substantial NVQ learner caseloads.
\n
• Knowledge or competence within Passive Fire Protection.
\n
• Experience assessing Occupational Work Supervision qualifications.
\n
