Employment Solicitor / Head of Department
\n£70,000–£90,000 DOE | Permanent | Full-time/Flexi-time
\nIf you are an experienced Employment Lawyer who would rather build something than inherit someone else’s blueprint, this deserves your attention.
\nA growing regional law firm is looking for a commercially minded solicitor to establish and lead a new Employment Law department. You will have genuine autonomy to shape the service, develop its client base, recruit your future team and influence the wider direction of the firm.

The role
\nYou will combine a personal caseload with responsibility for developing a successful and profitable employment practice. Your work will include:
\n- \n
- Advising employers and employees on contentious and non-contentious matters \n
- Managing employment disputes, advisory work and tribunal-related matters \n
- Building relationships with local businesses, referrers and professional contacts \n
- Developing the department’s strategy, profile and service offering \n
- Recruiting, supervising and mentoring team members as the practice grows \n
- Identifying cross-referral opportunities across the wider firm \n
- Managing departmental performance, billing and profitability \n
You
\nYou will be a solicitor authorised to practise in England and Wales, ideally with 6–10+ years’ PQE, although applications are welcomed from anyone who can demonstrate the necessary experience.
\nYou should also have:
\n- \n
- Strong technical employment law knowledge \n
- Commercial awareness and an appetite for business development \n
- The confidence to lead from the front \n
- Excellent client-management and communication skills \n
- Previous supervisory or management experience, ideally \n
- An established following or referral network would be welcomed and rewarded \n
